RAM JAM Vol III: Back in Black

RAM JAM was the brain child of Chopper Charlie (Wedding DJ's & WatKykJy.co.za) and Philip van der Walt (Donald's boet-in-law - Donald is the other Wedding DJ).  The two guys realised that there was nowhere in the Mutha City that one could go to get off your tits on quality old school Rock 'n Roll.  Shack generally plays good tunes, and so does the bottom bar at Mercury (on weekends), but their speakers are often also the channel for rather vile shit.

As we all know, the 60's, 70's and 80's are where it all started, and more often than not - it's also where it ended.  The roots of modern Rock music are firmly planted in the rich soil that the pioneers of old laid 50 odd years ago, yet we often forget that.  Hence, RAM JAM was created to pay tribute to these Rebels of Rock!  These Mavericks of Mayhem!  These Counts of Chaos!

When Philip moved to Mpumalanga, Chopper approached the Denim Demon and myself to take up the reigns beside him.  Chopper knew that DD and I shared the same sentiments regarding Rock and its history.  Needless to say, this chariot went up in flames and on a war path straight to Hell!

On 03 December 2010, RAM JAM was resurrected (with the blessing of Phil of course) and kicked into gear at the Harley Davidson Owner's Club in Canterbury Street, Cape Town.  The event was attended by 170 Rock 'n Roll fans!  The booze was flowing, panties were dropping, and epic air guitar solo's were a dime a dozen.  The Red Hot Lili Pepper graced us with her presence behind the decks, and has subsequently become the fourth member of RAM JAM.  That night, the Spirits of Spandex looked down on this little club in Cape Town and smiled...before biting the head off an angel.

You can rest assured...RAM JAM and old school Rock 'n Roll is here to stay!

I'll keep you posted with the date for RAM JAM Vol IV.

All images were masterfully captured by a very goofed Gareth Weber.
